We love a good intra-marque drag race, especially when the result isn’t quite what you’d expect. That’s especially the case with the standing-start run in the first of this duo of BMW M races from Car Wow - give it a watch and you’ll see what we mean.

However, we can’t help but wonder what it’d be like if this same race was re-run next year, with the F10 M5 30 Jahre replaced with the new all-wheel drive M5. In that case, it’d surely pulverise the lot of them on the standing-start race, and by a significant margin…

Growing up on a diet of World Rally Championship highlights and lengthy Gran Turismo 2 sessions, a life in cars was as good as inevitable for Matt.

Would love to see this with an M3 and the new M5 too. A symphony of BMW’s Bavarian Beasts.

M3 = 4-door M4
Basically identical with M4 when it comes to performance.

Why no M3 ?
That car is more legendary than those

M4 is the replacement for the M3 Coupe

I’d have liked to see a M140i (since the 1M is out of production) and M760Li in there as well

They did a pretty terrible job showing what was actually going on in each of the races, and they didn’t even say who won the rolling race. Not blown away by the production, but the results were interesting.
