Here's What The New Four-Cylinder Jaguar F-Type Sounds Like
In case you missed the news earlier this week, Jaguar is indeed putting an F-Type into production with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot under the bonnet.
With 297bhp and a 52kg drop in weight relative to the V6, you won’t be wanting for performance. In fact, to 60mph it’s actually a smidge quicker than the base six-pot. But what about noise? Well, we now have our first chance to hear the Ingenium lump in action.
We get a couple of short bursts of noise in the promotional video above (skip to around the 50sec and 1min 30sec marks if you don’t want to sit through the whole thing). It’s not enough to make a firm judgement, although it certainly sounds like Jaguar’s engineers have worked hard to extract a decent din from the uninspiring cylinder configuration.
What do you think?

Sounds a bit like the Abarth 124 Spyder
From what I heard, that actually sounds impressive, but maybe a little too Focus RS’esk?

How do they do it like seriously 4 cylinder cars don’t sound that good (with some exceptions)
I know its a fake sound but who cares? I Love it.
2.0 turbo engines allow manufacturers to enter certain markets with strict emissions, road tax and fuel consumption laws.
Especially some asian and african contries
Sounds pretty good for a 4 cylinder. And I think I hear exhaust pops at about 1:37.
“What do you think?”
Well, it does sound better than a gas lawn-mower.
Why is it an LHD in the ad if its in the Uk factory?
They make all their cars in the UK, at the moment.
let’s just hope that they don’t load those 4 Pots on some Trucks that turn up at the front Door….
Actually it sounds just like a Golf with a bit of exhaust tuning.
