Here's What TechArt Will Do To Your 992 Porsche 911
Pretty soon, there’ll be a 992 for almost every taste. Already we have a Carrera, a Carrera S and cabriolet versions of each, and before long there’ll be Targa derivatives, super-fast Turbo models and track-friendly GTs.
If you’re feeling impatient, however, or just want to be a little bit different, German tuning company TechArt will happily give your new 911 Carrera or Carrera S a jolly good fiddle.
The Carrera S is already stupidly quick thanks to exceptional traction off the line and a healthy 444bhp from its turbo flat-six, but if you must, TechArt has power pack that bumps the 3.0-litre up to a 991.2 GT3-eclipsing 503bhp and 449lb ft. You will only get the extra poke in Sport and Sport Plus modes, but whatever you’re set to, TechArt’s 992 should sound better than the GPF-strangled standard car. The tailpipes may look the same as a stock 911 with the sports exhaust system, but behind them hides an angrier set of pipes.
If you want the outside of your 992 to look a little meaner, you’re well covered. The 20-inch front/21-inch rear Daytona II wheel option matches the diameter of Porsche’s own rims (optional on the Carrera and standard on the S), but they’re much more visually arresting. The arch gap can be much narrower too, assuming you’ve gone for TechArt’s 30mm lower suspension kit.
To go with the wheels and the drop, there’s an aero kit option. This adds a new splitter, side skirts, a rear diffuser and most conspicuously, a giant rear wing. If you’re worried it’s just for show, don’t panic - TechArt assures that it’s wind-tunnel tested and is actually functional.
When it comes to the cabin, there’s a ridiculous amount of choice. Throw enough money TechArt’s way, and you can reupholster the whole damn thing in a multitude of different materials and whatever colour you damn well please. There’s even the option of illuminated carbonfibre kick plates if that takes your fancy. We won’t judge. Much.
