Here's Why You Might Regret LS-Swapping Your Porsche 911
After covering a heroic 248,000 miles, the engine in YouTuber and daring used car buyer Tyler Hoover’s Porsche ‘Apollo 911’ gave up. Instead of dropping in a replacement flat-six, he opted for an LS swap, and we can see why that was tempting.
On paper it looks like a cost effective, reliable solution, and the all-alluminium 6.0-litre LS2 he chose is actually lighter than the original flat-six. Oh, and there’s also the warm, fuzzy feeling associated with irritating Porsche purists.
Now it’s getting toward being finish though, Hoover’s not convinced it was the best idea. One big minus point for instance is the sheer amount of butchery required to fit it in, something he hadn’t expected.
We’ll let the man take you through the downsides of the conversion, but at the very least, it does sound incredible sans exhaust…
