The Hideous BMW X6 Has A Little Brother: Introducing The Hot BMW X4

BMW is bulking up its X line-up with this, the new BMW (Concept) X4. It's a concept at the moment, but it's very unlikely to change noticeably before it goes on sale.

Which is bloody good news, because the X4 (baby brother to the lumbering buffoon that is the X6) looks great. Like the X6, the concept car is described as a Sports Activity Coupé. That means it's another high-riding, four-seater with a sporty backbone.

The X4 is, however, around 20cm shorter and 70cm lower than the X6, meaning it'll be more entertaining to drive and easier to thread thread through traffic.

Outside, the X4 features crisp lines, bulging arches and more road presence than an Audi R8 in flames.

Under the bonnet, we're likely to find the same engines already used in the X3 - including a 2.0-litre petrol and diesel unit as well as a six-pot 3-litre petrol and diesel - with prices expected to kick off from around £35,000.
