Honda has released this design sketch as a preview of its radical-looking Civic Type-R concept, due to be unveiled at the Geneva motor show next month. It previews the 2015 production Civic Type-R, which is shaping up to be an exciting car indeed.

Late last year we saw a mule (below) undergoing testing at Honda's in-house test track in Tochigi, Japan. That car had one of the new turbocharged VTEC units kicking out 280bhp, but the internet is rife with rumours that Honda is aiming for more like 300bhp with the 2015 Civic Type-R.

The concept points towards an aggressive approach from Honda. The track is very wide, necessitating some beefy wide wheel arches, all of which have large vents slashed across. The chunky rear spoiler, meanwhile, swoops down across the boot and houses the rear lights. The production version will of course be toned down, but it's all looking promising. Roll on 2015...
