This Horrific F1 Shunt At Eau Rouge Just Stopped The Belgian GP

Kevin Magnussen lost his Renault at the top of the Eau Rouge/Raidillon complex during the F1 Belgian GP and suffered a huge crash. He appears to be OK but the race has been red flagged due to barrier damage

Magnussen climbed out of his car and looked to be OK, although he was limping slightly and is being evaluated for a possible injury to his left ankle.

It was a chaotic first 10 laps of the race and heavy damage to the barriers where the Renault crashed caused it to be red flagged. After 15 minutes the race then resumed with Rosberg leading Ricciardo.

Another testament to how good safety has become… glad he he’s OK.

He apparently hurt his ankle but he’s alright. My biggest concern was the headrest/cockpit section flying off… that would be a big safety concern.

I recorded the race and my first reaction when I saw the accident was me covering my mouth in shock of what happened. Thank goodness he was able to walk away. That corner is the worst spot to crash on that track.

This is not going to be good for his contract to be renewed.

Dont think it will affect it that much, he is a good driver and the best they have (not saying the others aren’t good, but because of the results)
So unless they get offered some really good drivers I think Renault will keep him

Very little margin for error there. It’s very easy to bin it once you lose balance.

Nah,i’d say that would be the Alonso/Guttierez crash from the first few races.Maybe not in sheer speed but in brutality and rolls
