How to be an underage petrolhead: My 5 ideas #blogpost

Hello CTzens!

As you know many people on this platform still can’t own a car because they are underaged. Well I’am one of those people. Today I’m going to present you with a list of what can you do as an underage Petrolhead.

Enjoy!

1. Gaming

I know this one is rather obvious, but this is one of the best ways to learn about different driving physics tuning and many more. There are so many games on the market that everyone can find something for himself.

Here are some of my favourite ones:

Asseto Corsa- this one is for people interested in competitive racing, and tuning your cars. You can spend hours and hours on tuning your ride so you can finally find that sweet spot and improve your time on the Nurburgring by 0.02 of a second. It also has mod support which is rather awesome.

Driveclub for PS4- this one is for more artistic people. Of course you can race here, and the car choice is rather good but you will rarely find good racers in online mode. The biggest upside of this game is the visuals. Driveclub is absolutely gorgeous. You will find yourself in photo mode often as the game is so visually appealing.

Forza Horizon 2- this game is all about creating your perfect ride and cruising with your friends from city to city. It has a decently big open map, and awesome selection of vehicles. The graphics are great and the sound of the cars is also on a very high level. Unfortunately it doesn’t have a huge selection of visual customisation but you can find a few aftermarket bumpers for the GT86 and some other JDM heroes.

The Crew- this game is rather arcady than a simulation. The map is huge. You can drive from LA to NY in about 40 minutes with an average speed of 150mph. What I love about The Crew is the visual car customisation. It is crazy. Almost every car has over 20 different parts. After the Wild Run update the game looks very nice. They also added photo mode which is very well done. Overall sick game.

2. Car Spotting

This is mostly for people living in big cities like London, Tokyo or LA.

When I went to NY for the first time I’ve made a list of cars that I wanted to see. The list included cars like the Nissan GTR, Ferrari Enzo, Bugatti Veyron etc. It was awesome to go around the city and ticking off cars that I wanted to see. My idea is that you can make an album/blog with every page being reserved for a different car. When you see the car that you have on your list you take a photo of it and put it in your album. For me It would for sure be a great fun going around a city looking for the cars.

3. Learn as much as you can about cars!

For this point I recommend YouTube channels like: Engineering Explained, Car and Driver Magazine, Car Throttle, Mighty Car Mods and Haggard Garage.

There are also some awesome Car Magazines that you should read like mentioned earlier Car and Driver Magazine or Top Gear Magazine.

Of course you don’t have to be a walking genius to be a petrolhead, but you can for sure impress some people knowing how much horsepower you can get out of a 2002 Chrysler PTCruiser.

Knowledge is good

4. Creating a blog

It has never been easier to create a blog. Many people here on Car Throttle already produce some amazing articles. I have a feeling that some CTzens have an amazing talent of writing but haven’t discovered it yet! I think that you should give yourself a try and start a blog :)

What can it be about? It can be about anything you want it to be! It can be made around fun facts about car manufactures. Your cities/ countries car culture and many many more. What is cool about writing a blog is that after you get recognition you can earn money of it and money can buy you a car ;)

5. Car photography

Don’t worry if you don’t have proper gear. It is not about the gear! You can take photos with your cellphone or a cheap point&shoot camera. You can get a lot of tips on the internet from people like Larry Chen who is a Speed Hunters photographer. This job takes a lot of patience, but the results can be incredible. You can start with taking photos of your family car, and who knows maybe you have what it takes to become the new SpeedHunters photographer :)

Thank you all for reading
Cheers!

Well, for me the best thing is to actually buy a car when you have where to store it,I don’t mean that you should buy an expensive car, opposite, you should buy the cheapest car like 200-300$ and repair it and drive, there is nothing better than that (I’m 15 and I have a 250$ Golf)

That’s pretty freaking awesome. It’s tje best option to actually own a car at a young age. You can learn a lot more from owning one than from just reading about them. Shame I don’t have anywhere to store one :(
Btw this is probably my oldest article ever so Kudos for finding it
