How Does The 'Underpowered' Lexus GS F Compare To The BMW M5?

On paper, the M5 comprehensively outguns the GS F. But in this test from Chris Harris, he finds much to like about the Lexus

It’d be interesting to see how the Lexus stacks up to the incoming, all-new, all-wheel drive BMW M5. After all, one of Harris’ main complaints about the outgoing rear-wheel drive M5 is its traction issues.

But, the new M5 is set to be even more complicated than the car it replaces, so I can’t help but think the simpler, naturally-aspirated GS F will still be the more enjoyable car.

Which would you rather have?

“GSF = simpler, natrually aspriated”
This is way more simpler and more fun. Holden Commodore SS-V Redline.

The Lexus is indeed simpler and naturally aspirated, but it has high quality materials and unflinching reliability, things GM cars can’t offer…

But you know what M5s and GS-Fs do that Commodores can’t? Stay in business! (I’ll leave now).

The GSFs biggest problem?
That massive grille looks quite a bit like it was drawn heavy handed by a drunk man with a crayon and no eraser.

Other than that it’s pretty good especially the noise.

My problem with the GS F is that it must sound better than it does. If I’m buying a naturally aspirated V8 saloon it must sound like 6.2L C63 or E92 M3.
Not average exhaust note mostly coming from the speakers.

Imo it sounds way better than the new m5, m3, e63, c63… But that’s just my oppinion

It’s kinda like a modern-day Alfa. On the face of it it’s got some amateur and intrusive flaws, but they are what makes it great

But unlike an Alfa, the Lexus will keep on running for like forever

It’s an embarrassment that the main argument against the bmw is low traction when driving it on a snowey and/or icy road. That is not fair.
