How Much Faster Are Goodyear’s New Road Tyres?

Goodyear has launched two new road tyres over and above the already award-winning Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5, but how much quicker are they?

Tyres have come a long way since being the black and round things you could judge solely on the brand name. These days the premium tyre kings like Michelin, Continental and Goodyear have begun to offer increasingly broad ranges of similar rubber to let we, the people, choose the one that brings us the least compromises for how we want to use it.

But that creates ranges of tyres that, on paper, look kinda the same. Fortunately, friend of CT Jonathan Benson is the expert behind YouTube channel Tyre Reviews, and can show us what’s what.

How Much Faster Are Goodyear’s New Road Tyres?

On test in his latest video is a trio of Goodyear tyres for sporty and more powerful cars. The benchmark is the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5, but there are two new road-capable Supersport-badged options above it. What’s the difference? Benson has the low-down, and the time difference on a 90-second lap might surprise you.

Big fan of the website and videos. Have always thought that there needs to be a bigger emphasis on tyres in the car community.
It’s interesting to walk around a car show and see what tyres people are using. Some choices are shocking when they have clearly spent £1,000s on the car, but nothing on the tyres. Such massive gains for less than £800.
