The Idiot Who Shut Down A Freeway To Propose To His Girlfriend Is Facing Charges

It might have seemed like a good idea at the time, but this guy just found out that it's not just Internet commenters who disapprove of you shutting down a freeway to propose

Proposing to your girlfriend should be a wonderful moment, and for some, being as romantic and creative as possible will ensure the moment stays with them for a lifetime. Unfortunately, your special moment means diddlysquat to 99.9 per cent of the population, so if your super romantic proposal turns out to actually be at worst super dangerous, and at best super inconvenient for everyone else, you might find yourself under fire.

That’s exactly what happened to Vidal Valldares, after he shut down Interstate-45 in Houston so he could propose to his girlfriend. The video above shows the moment Vidal’s family and friends stopped to block traffic on the highway, with the lucky lady’s “yes” drowned out by the angry horns of drivers. It turns out one of the vehicles that passed the scene was driven by an off-duty officer, which gives investigators an official witness, allowing them to charge Valldares with obstructing a highway.

It should go without saying that stopping traffic on the highway is dangerous and dumb, and could hold up someone in an emergency.

How is that romantic!? That’s being lazy. Somewhere not in the way of traffic and with a view like this is my idea of romantic

While it didn’t put anyone in potentially serious danger, that doesn’t mean you should stop highway traffic at will. For example, what if I’m just bored and want to stop traffic for no reason? Just because I’m not literally hurting anyone or putting someone in danger doesn’t make that okay either.

Why propose on a freeway, it’s not romantic at all. The only reason I can think of as to why he would do that is just so people would be forced to watch him propose to her. What a knob head!

I-45 is clogged enough as it is! Feels like there’s traffic jams no matter what time of day it is

people start honking
“Stop honking can’t you see they’re enjoying a one in a life time moment!!”
Driver #1: “My bad, I am so selfish. I had a major interview for a job today that I am already late to. You guys enjoy your proposal, that matters more”
Driver #2: “I feel so bad for honking, it’s just that there is an emergency in my home that I need to get to, but please enjoy your proposal.”
This is one of the stupidest things a human being can do. News flash, nobody cares about your proposal.

Well at least it wasn’t for a BLM protest, a marriage proposal is a bit more justifiable.
