If You've Been Cheating On GT Sport, You Might Soon Be Banned

When a game is as online-focused as GT Sport is, a huge part of its success is making sure the experience is as balanced and fair as possible; just one person taking short cuts with a ‘cheat’ can ruin it for everybody.

Over the last few months, players have discovered a few bugs and glitches which offered an unfair advantage in races. Unsurprisingly, people have been taking advantage.

Although many of these issues have seemingly been fixed via updates, Polyphony Digital is looking to crack down on those who’ve been exploiting the game. According to GT Planet, PD is going to start suspending the accounts of players who are found to have been in breach of the game’s terms of service. In other words, if you’ve been cheating, you’re banned.

Strangely this purge has only been detailed on the official Japanese website, with the roughly-translated (and slightly ominous) statement saying:

“Cheating was confirmed in the online service of “Gran Turismo Sport”, so we have taken account suspension measures. Subsequently, the applicable online IDs can not connect to the online service of “Gran Turismo Sport”.

“It is strictly prohibited to act by improperly modifying game data, misbehaving using malfunctions in the game, or causing inconvenience to other users. Please note that cheating will be subject to punishment as soon as it is discovered.

“We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.”

If You've Been Cheating On GT Sport, You Might Soon Be Banned

In a way, the statement offers up more questions than it answers. What exactly are players being banned for? Why has it only been announced on the Japanese site? On top of that, GT Sport requires access to its online services - even if you only want to play single player, you’ll need to be connected if you want to save.

Will banned players still be able to play in the Arcade modes and save their game? Or will their suspension render the game they bought and paid for as little more than an expensive coaster?

Alternatively, it could all just be a bit of chest pumping from the developers to try and get those naughty people to stop doing whatever they’re doing out of fear. Who knows!

Why don’t PD just turn on damage for the online racing? That way, anyone who wants to play dodgem cars or t bone you on the apex will be out of the race or have no chance of winning.

HATE BOP CHEATS… play fair or go race ARCADE MODE.
I mean we pay very good money to access the GT SPORT mode, so we should get a fair crack at it!
Maybe open it up to tuners, no BOP, that would really sort them out!
For me the game has always been about finding the ultimate edge through tuning, making a car the best it can be for each circuit you use it on! So let us do that!
Also the process of reporting is to difficult, there needs to be a very easy way to do it in game!
Oh and how do you spot the cheats?
OK there are glitches in the cheat they use, some have been updated, so harder to spot, but here’s what I have noticed.
Car will display erratically, jump around all over the track, this ones has been updated in the latest fix… maybe I should not have pointed it out :( But those using the old cheat will still display that way.
Cars will appear to pivot around the middle, rather than track correctly.
When the yellow penalty bar appears, it does not come up straight away, it behaves like a load save bar!
And there are 2 things happening in the garage where the grid rankings are listed pre-race, the background will flash a few times, it’s noticeable, or the latest is the brake lights on the car in the garage will flash a couple of times.
The Cheats are not perfect they contain glitches, so why are they not suspending more accounts.
And yes the majority of the BOP CHEATS are coming from Japan.
So maybe suspend all online JAPAN play for a week until they stop, peer pressure maybe just might work!
But we really need to be able to report it easier! Why cant we use the pre after race msg, to flag the player, then a one button hit to report? If they know its going to be that easy to be reported, possibly suspended, they “MIGHT” just stop.
To all the good players, when you beat me, I take my helmet off to you as you have to be damn quick.
BTW I only have ever used a hand controller, have completed every level of all the GT SERIES of games, and love the game, and love the GT community, well the nice ones who race fair and clean :)
Love the Scapes and Livery editor, hooked on them :)
Well report when you obviously see them, and keep on racin’
