Infiniti will release a new sports saloon concept next month, raising its game of catch-up versus the big German brands.

Said to ‘herald a new era’ for the brand’ (by the person who designed it), all we know about it comes from this teaser image. We’re told it has a long cabin and uses downsized, advanced drivetrains including the brand’s latest variable-compression petrol and hybrid layouts – although the concept itself is said to be pure electric.

On the outside, sharply angled details will punctuate a curvaceous body with ‘flowing gestures.’ We think that means it has rounded bits.

We don’t even yet have a name for the concept, which will make its bow at the Detroit Motor Show on 15 January. It will take the stage alongside the absolutely awesome Prototype 9. Apparently, the two share some parts, and the 9’s 148bhp electric motor springs to mind…

Maybe they’ll sell 12 cars next year instead of 11

There are quite popular here in France, where a lot of people prefer them to the classical German choice

Infiniti never fails to make absolutely stunning cars. Especially the modern ones. Hell, they’ve even managed to make an urban crossover look gorgeous.

Can’t wait to see this car in full

Infinity had the chance of making a killer saloon since 2007. Take the R35 and put it in other cars, you know it works you’ve done it before. New era my arse
