The Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400 Is The Bargain M3-Baiter North America Will Love
The 400bhp Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400 isn’t brand new, but we’ve just seen the latest pricing news and we reckon it’s a seriously good-value North American alternative to an M3.
Infiniti is, of course, Japanese, but if you’re in America you can pick the latest twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 model up with rear-wheel drive for $51,000 plus $905 destination and handling fee. That makes it $13,000 cheaper than the starting price for the M3. On paper it’s hard to argue with that kind of value.
Okay, so the M3 packs an extra 44bhp and a badge with more heritage, but the Q50 is full of clever technology and advanced aerodynamic design that apparently eliminates lift at high speeds, where it matters.
Its transmission is a seven-speed automatic with paddles and rev-matching on down-shifts. Driving modes span Standard, Sport, Snow, Eco and customisable Personal. There’s a huge range of safety kit on board as well, just in case you accidentally put it into something solid.
For about the same price ($50,600) there’s also a 360bhp hybrid option, which uses a closed, ‘full’ hybrid layout to make sure there’s always a small amount of e-juice on tap when it’s needed. So, America: would you take the $13,000 saving and the Infiniti over the M3?

Where is my Eau Rouge version?
You could always swap it with a VR38…

Long live the Nissan Skyline!
I would have the M3 if what I heard is true. This car uses steering by wire and from what I remember, it wasn’t good at all. Being one of the first means there will be bugs yes but I wouldn’t test out something which eliminates feel in a car which that is one of its most important measures.
It uses DAS since 2013 and all bugs are probably solved by now. But it’s a love it or hate it experience.
I would take the Infiniti and spend the $13,000 on a Used 2011 BMW 328 i in red I found online
Nice nissan skyline
This car is undertired and extremely pleasant from reviews i’ve read. It is NOT an M3 competitor. I’ve read the thing will spin tires for the first 3 gears and a little bit through 4th. 13k is still a lot of money and this thing is cheaper to insure, drive and to maintain.
Really depends on what you are looking for; driver’s car that you can take on the track - M3. Daily that is still fun and entertaining - Q50.
2.0 L version powered by mercedes is the slowest thing on earth; don’t buy it!
Though the 2.0 L was only in the qx30
Soccer moming intensifies
The Q60 red Sport looks so much better
The problem with it is i’ve never seen a car guy with an infinity, never seen one at a show. Now im sure there are some out there who enjoyed that spare 13k but the problem is that it doesn’t look sporty at all. Literally nothing about the infinity’s appearance suggests that its fast.
Hopefully Infiniti put an LSD in it because the previous car had it all open
