It Looks Like A Four-Cylinder Diesel Jaguar F-Type Is Coming

Whether you buy a V6 or a V8 Jaguar F-Type, you can be sure your ears will be treated to a jolly nice time. However, it’s looking like a less tuneful version of Jaguar’s pretty coupe and cabriolet combo might be on the way: a diesel.
Oh yes: alongside the long-rumoured new entry-level 2.0-litre four-pot Igenium petrol F-Types, it seems Jaguar is also about to introduce the 2.0-litre diesel version from the engine family to the sports car. Spy shots from Autocar captured an oil-burning F-Type test mule with JLR engineering big cheese Mike Cross behind the wheel, and after running the plates on the DVLA database, the publication found that the car is registered as having a 2.0-litre diesel engine.
This could of course amount to nothing - plenty of cars never make it past the testing stage, after all. But if this did happen, what would you think of such a vehicle? Does the idea of a diesel F-Type disgust you, or is the prospect of a torquey little diesel Jaguar roadster/coupe weirdly appealing? Let us know in the comments.

Is it April Fools’ already??
What? This will be the car for people who want to look like rich bastards without driving fast.
Having such a small engine, i would assume therefore that it would be more reasonably priced than other models? Therefore would it not be a good car to do an engine swap on?
KILL ME
I cant hear diesel haters over all this torque!
Its a great idea, but it depends on the price. If it’s like 30k € I’m sold!
More like 5k less than the entry level V6,which is around 60k€.
What’s wrong with the world? First was the Mustang and Camaro 4cyl, now that, I’m starting to give up living.
Donald Trump approves
Maybe a six cylinder diesel would have been ACCEPTABLE, but not this.
Roll coal lads will be happy
