Well some transmissions have a snow mode which starts the car in second gear.

I usually start in 2nd in my mustang driving around town. With a 3.73 rear end its really geared too low. But it makes 2nd gear starts very easy. 5.0 V8 helps too.

Ye, because if you start on 1st, your endangering a crowd from being hit😂😂

I’m a mecanic, clutch changes are expensive… I like when people start in 2nd gear 👍😁

Unless you drive an auto! Launch control on my SRT starts me off in 2nd gear. Because torque

If you have enough torque that you don’t need to slip the clutch much it’s not an issue really.
I launch the buggy in 2nd gear all the time because 1st is just a waste of wheelspin.

Most offroad cars with no hi/low box are geared to start from 2nd, 1st is pretty much offroad gear meant for offroad use/starting uphill, or while pulling a trailer. Dacia Duster is geared that way. Please, stop overlooking some cars, performance /highway oriented cars aren’t the only ones.
