One-time F1 race winner Jarno Trulli has become the first driver to test Formula E's Spark-Renault SRT_01E in full 200kw (270bhp) race trim. And judging by the video below, a full grid of these cars could be pretty entertaining to watch.

In case you're not up to speed on the whole Formula E thing, it's is a new, all-electric FIA racing series that'll kick off in September and which takes place on street race tracks around the world.

So what's an FE car like to drive? According to Trulli:

"From inside the cockpit it feels like driving a proper Formula One car, the sound is different but you still hear the sound of the electrical engine and gearbox, so in terms of feeling it’s perfect for a racing driver."

Interestingly, the ex-F1 Italian could make a return to motorsport as he's one of 40 people to have joined the Formula E Drivers' Club. So far just two of the eventual 20 drivers have been confirmed, with Audi Sport ABT signing ex-Virgin Racing F1 driver Lucas di Grassi and GP2's Daniel Abt.
