It’s Official: Matt LeBlanc Is Actually A Top Gear Presenter
Just when we’d gotten used to the idea of Chris Evans’ Top Gear co-hosts being Chris Harris, Sabine Schmitz and David Coulthard, a curve ball comes in that we just didn’t see coming. Yep, Matt LeBlanc - aka Joey from Friends - will be a presenter on the show as confirmed by TG itself. Speaking about the news on Topgear.com, LeBlanc said “As a car nut and a massive fan of Top Gear, I’m honoured and excited to be a part of this iconic show’s new chapter….What a thrill!”
Evans meanwhile, had this to say about his first officially confirmed co-presenter: “Matt’s a lifelong fellow petrolhead and I’m thrilled he’s joining Top Gear. Acting out our craziest car notions on screen is a dream job and I know we’ll both be debating some epic road trip ideas….We can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to on screen later this year.”
What’s particularly interesting is that the Topgear.com article signs off with the statement “we’ll have more news on additional Top Gear cast members shortly…” Interesting not just because we’ll have official confirmation of the remaining Top Gear newbies very soon, but also because of the term ‘cast members’ rather than presenters. Could we see LeBlanc and Evans manning a studio, cutting away to Harris and Schmitz ‘in the field’? We’ll have to wait and see…
In the meantime, take a look at LeBlanc’s appearance on the show in February 2012 and let us know in this poll if you think LeBlanc can save Top Gear’s shattered reputation.

No way. That’s epic!
I don’t know why I did not think about it earlier. I’ve seen thin guy in my tele presenting Best of Top Gear stuff. Well, we shall see.
We need a gif of Alex flailing his arms in excitement.
I don’t get why BBC is trying so hard on something that isnt gonna work anyways…
Top gear was never a strict car review show, all it takes is some cars, good footage and comedy. I don’t think even Chris Harris would fit there being a proper car journalist.
Its turning out exciting and I think BBC are playing it right knowing the fan base of Top Gear were never too critical about the reviews itself.
There are tons of proper car shows online and on TV top gear should be the lightest and Matt Le Blanc would fit perfectly. He is also a car guy so I’m not worried about him being too cheeky
I think they might have gained more viewers with this stunt….
The amount of presenters is too damn high
