It’s Official: Matt LeBlanc Is Actually A Top Gear Presenter
Just when we’d gotten used to the idea of Chris Evans’ Top Gear co-hosts being Chris Harris, Sabine Schmitz and David Coulthard, a curve ball comes in that we just didn’t see coming. Yep, Matt LeBlanc - aka Joey from Friends - will be a presenter on the show as confirmed by TG itself. Speaking about the news on Topgear.com, LeBlanc said “As a car nut and a massive fan of Top Gear, I’m honoured and excited to be a part of this iconic show’s new chapter….What a thrill!”
Evans meanwhile, had this to say about his first officially confirmed co-presenter: “Matt’s a lifelong fellow petrolhead and I’m thrilled he’s joining Top Gear. Acting out our craziest car notions on screen is a dream job and I know we’ll both be debating some epic road trip ideas….We can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to on screen later this year.”
What’s particularly interesting is that the Topgear.com article signs off with the statement “we’ll have more news on additional Top Gear cast members shortly…” Interesting not just because we’ll have official confirmation of the remaining Top Gear newbies very soon, but also because of the term ‘cast members’ rather than presenters. Could we see LeBlanc and Evans manning a studio, cutting away to Harris and Schmitz ‘in the field’? We’ll have to wait and see…

Excellent news in my opinion. Matt is a great character and a petrol head he will do well, of course nobody can replace jeremy or James but as a true car fan I will still watch it and more than likely love it. There is to many people hating on Top Gear before its even out. Give them a chance.
Just gotta remove the thought of it being top gear and it might be enjoyable
Incredibly knowledgable about car and motorsports, very quick driver and likeable. Honestly, of all of the couple dozen (It feels like) presenter announcements so far, this one is the one most likely to get me to check out the new show
