The Jaguar E-Pace Barrel Roll Stunt Is Both Bonkers And Beautiful
We were fairly certain Jaguar wouldn’t be able to top the ludicrous, record-breaking loop-the-loop it completed with the F-Pace SUV a couple of years ago, but we’ve been proven wrong. Very wrong.
To get people talking about its new E-Pace crossover, Jaguar decided to put renowned stunt driver Terry Grant behind the wheel, and point him in the direction of a specially-built, computer-modelled ramp in London’s Excel convention centre.
Jaguar says Excel is one of “only a handful of venues” in the country big enough to allow for the 160-metre run up that was needed to achieve the right speed, as well as being big enough to accommodate a the necessary run-off.
The jump measured 15.3 metres in length, clocking the Guinness World Record for the “Furthest Barrel Roll in a Production Vehicle”. During the 270-degree maneuvre, Grant was subjected to 5.5g.
As for the car, no models are especially quick, but the E-Pace is crammed full of tech, looks rather handsome and seems to be surprisingly spacious considering its compact dimensions. We suspect Jaguar will sell a fair few…
