Jaguar's Brutal 186mph XFR-S Sportbrake Is Here
We've already had a glimpse of the new Jag XFR-S Sportbrake courtesy of the recent leak, but now all the official details and images are out. As expected, it has the same supercharged 5.0-litre V8 as the saloon version, kicking out a burly 545bhp and 502lb/ft of torque.
With a little more weight to haul about, it's a touch slower than the saloon, but it'll still blast from 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds. You can forget the usual 155mph limiter too, the electronic buffers on this don't kick in until you reach 186mph.
The grunt of the V8 is channeled to the back wheels via Jaguar's 'Quickshift' eight-speed auto gearbox, which allows manual shifting via steering wheel-mounted paddles, and has an auto throttle blip feature for downshifts.
While we're big fans of the Smurf-like 'Ultra Blue' paint used on the press release car, four other colours are available if you want something a little less loud. But it's not just cool paint and trick tech that has us sold, we just love quick estate cars - as far as we're concerned they're infinitely cooler than their saloon counterparts. Couple that cool factor to the Sportbrake's vastly increased practicality - the sportbrake offers a huge 1675 litres of boot space with the rear seats down - and you have a tempting package.
It comes at quite a price though; at £82,495 it's more expensive than the Mercedes E63 AMG estate and Audi RS6 Avant it rivals, which weigh in at £75,885 and £76,985 respectively.
The car will make its public debut at next month's Geneva motor show, and will be available to order from the beginning of April.
