Mercedes-Benz created a legend when the company fitted the ‘M100’ 6.3-litre V8 from the 600 limousine into the smaller W109. After listening to the opinion of his commenters, Jay Leno decided to stick with this engine in his own 300SEL, despite flirting with the idea of transplanting an SLS drivetrain he’d obtained.
