If you ever wondered why the hard shoulder is reserved for emergencies only, just take a look at this scary video. A driver on this two-way road overtakes the camera car, before weaving onto the hard shoulder to get past the next guy in his way. Only trouble is, a broken down car is parked up, right in this jerk's path.
After slamming the anchors on he just manages to avoid a huge smash but still clips the rear of the other car, before swinging his back-end out into the stream of oncoming traffic without further incident. This could easily have been so much worse.
