John Cena Is The Fast And Furious Cast Addition We Should Have Seen Coming

As a car-loving, excessively muscular pro-wrestler-turned actor, it’s almost surprising John Cena hasn’t already been in two or three Fast and Furious films already.

With that in mind, former Ford GT owner John Cena being added to the cast of the ninth film in the franchise - which has so far taken over 5 billion dollars at the box office - is a plot twist we should have seen coming. It’s an unexpected John Cena that isn’t really unexpected at all.

Although not yet officially confirmed by F&F officials, the latest member of the ‘family’ was revealed via an uncomfortably close-up Instagram video from Vin Diesel, aka Dominic Torretto.

In it, he said: “Every blue moon I feel like Pablo [Paul Walker] up there sends me someone. Another soldier in the fight for truth. Today, someone came by Toretto Gym that speaks to what Pablo would have brought,” cue a brief pause, and then… it’s John Cena!

Thank you Pablo.

For now, that’s all we have to go on. We don’t know if he’ll be a good guy or a bad guy. Or if, in F&F tradition, he’ll be a baddie that has a change of heart, joining Toretto and his nearest and dearest for a Corona by the time the credits roll.

The as-yet-unnamed ninth Fast and Furious film was due to be released this year, before being pushed back to 2020 to make room for the Hobbs and Shaw spinoff, which is out on 2 August. Production of the former flick will start in June, with F&F veteran Justin Lin on directing duties.
