Ken Block Drops Gymkhana 5

Kenny from the Block (if you don’t know who we’re talking about, leave...) has just outed the latest installment in his illusive tyre-shredding Gymkhana franchise - and it’s AWESOME.

The fifth installment in the franchise sees Block tearing up San Francisco’s surface streets in his loyal Hybrid Fusion Hoon Vehicle (HFHV) - which itself makes a welcome return from the Hollywood-land epic that was GYM4.

Ok, it’s a Fiesta. But - this is a Fiesta with 600bhp, 665lb-ft of torque and a rally legend behind the wheel. It’ll hit 60mph in 1.8 seconds. No, you didn’t misread that last sentence. 1.8 seconds. That’ll embarrass million-dollar hyper-cars and once imperious super-bikes alike. You can’t even say “1.8 seconds” in 1.8 seconds.

Famed for its unique topography, and the “Bullit” car-chase - San Francisco played host to Block and his crew for four days as they planned, practiced and filmed GYM5. The city’s Bay Bridge was shut for the opening sequence, and the Financial District was cordoned off so Block could fool around with a couple of the city’s iconic tram tourist busses.

From there, Block moves out into the ‘burbs, where he comes face to face (visor to windscreen?) with Motocross legend Travis Pastrana, and gets spectacularly airborne as he flies (quite literally) through intersections. ‘Frisco’s Bay plays an integral role in GYM5, as does a rather large barge Block’s production team commandeered for the closing sequence.

We’re not giving too much away - so you’ll have to hit up the video below.
