The LaFerrari XX Will Be A 1050bhp Track-Only Monster
The extreme track-only ‘XX’ version of the LaFerrari - Ferrari’s flagship hybrid hypercar - will be revealed In December, but insiders have just spilled all the juicy details to Top Gear.
The most extreme production-derived Ferrari ever to roll out of Maranello will feature 1050bhp, which is about 100bhp more than its softer road-going sibling.
There were rumours the XX would get a V6 derived from the Formula 1 car’s powerplant, but fortunately that’s not true. The track car will keep the road car’s naturally-aspirated V12, albeit with a thorough going over to eke out all that extra power. The electric motors will retain their 161bhp output.
With all that combined grunt, it’s no surprise to learn that its performance figures are mighty impressive; 0-62mph takes 2.9 seconds, with 124mph coming up in less than seven seconds. Since it isn’t allowed on the road, the XX gets a few more things you won’t find on any road car. That includes super-slick racing tyres, active aero (even more extreme than what’s already there), and a stripped interior that’s made to look like a race car, complete with figure-hugging bucket seat.
Like the Enzo FXX that came before it, this OTT LaFerrari will be kept at Maranello, tended to lovingly by Ferrari’s own engineers and only wheeled out for eight specific track events held each year around the world. Prices are unconfirmed, but expect to have to splash out around £2m, a similar price to the almost-as-extreme McLaren P1 GTR.
