Lamborghini Has Smashed The Nurburgring Production Lap Record
Lamborghini has whipped the Nurburgring production car record out from under Porsche’s nose, less than a year after the 911 GT2 RS had set a new benchmark.
The mind-boggling time of 6m44.97s is over two seconds faster than the GT2 RS’s, set in the new, ultra-halo Aventador SVJ – short for Superveloce Jota. It packs not only a tuned V12 but also Lamborghini Active Aerodynamics and extra weight reduction.
In a series of Instagram posts leading up to the confirmation of the new record, Lamborghini showed the camouflage-wrapped SVJ along with brief teasers like “designed to have the best weight to power ratio” and “designed to have the best aerodynamic efficiency.”
Best handling was in there as well, and it all seems to have come together perfectly for the bull from Sant’Agata. The end result is almost 15 seconds faster over the 17.5-mile track than the Aventador SV.
Leaked reports quoted by Autocar claim that the SVJ delivers 759bhp to all four wheels – a sizeable traction advantage over the 911 GT2 RS, and 69bhp more to play with. The car is due for a full reveal at Monterey Car Week in August.
The full lap video is due to go live soon and we’ll update this article when it does.
Edit: video now added at the top.

So hangggg on
The top 2 ring leaders are basically souped up versions of 7 year old cars
Wot
The current speed record holder is a souped up version of a 8 year old car
The 488 pista called, it wants it’s bonnet scoop back.
I congratulate Lamborghini because im not a sore loser
Porsche 911 GT1 incoming?
Huracan Sesto Elemento coming?
The last one was based of a Gallardo
That or Centenario SV.
Oh yeah…. I sure hope, I would do many horrible things to see that car be produced again
I am a porsche fan by all means, but I have to congratulate Lamborghini here for not only proving that their cars are more than showoff cars for the rich, but also can perform. Especially now that they figured out how to give an aventador a steering column, they have really impressed me.
In may be wrong, but I reckon they’re trying to turn around their image: recently, Lamborghini was a byword for flashy YouTubers who have more money than sense. But since the Huracan Perf and perhaps this, they’re trying to persuade people that Lamborghini can also be a byword for track focused vibes.
How is a “production record” when the car hasn’t even been produced yet? Heck, up until now we didnt even know what the name of the car was.
If they fail to produce it, the record will be taken down
Koenigsegg Agera RS 6:39.68 trust me it will happen one day…

nice
Am I the only one who believes in all lap times Lamborghini has made?
Lots of people think they are fake… That the timer glitches or the recording is sped up something like that… But tbh the SV did a 6:59 so this Aventador MUST be more powerful, have better aero/downforce and better tires…
at some point, doing time attack at the ring will be so dangerous because these cars will be able to achieve speed faster how a standard human’s reaction time.
Naaaah, human’s reaction time will evolve… Hopefully
Yet Porsche managed to get around almost a minute and a half faster with no issues
