If you’ve never heard of Lamborghini’s Blancpain Super Trofeo series, all you need to know is this: it’s about to become the most aesthetically pleasing one-make race series of all time. Why? Because of the new Huracan LP620-2 Super Trofeo. Developed in conjunction with motorsport experts Dallara, this machine will replace the Gallardo race car currently used for Lamborghini’s race series which runs in Europe, Asia, and North America.

Power has received a modest 9bhp boost courtesy of a freer flowing exhaust system and an upgraded ECU, which brings the total figure to 611bhp. There’s less weight to shift around, too, as 151kg has been cut compared to the road-going version, giving a new weight figure of 1271kg. The weight reduction is in part thanks to the car’s heavy four-wheel drive system delete, with power now being sent to the rear wheels only. We approve.

The car has also been given an aerodynamic makeover, with a new front splitter and rear diffuser, and the expected because racecar giant rear wing, which has ten levels of adjustment. It runs on super sticky tyres created especially for the series by Pirelli.

The car will race in the championship from next year. We don’t know about you, but we’ve never wanted to be super rich gentleman racing drivers more than we do right now…
