This Land Speed Record Car Decelerates So Quickly It Sets Off The Fire Extinguisher
Danny Thompson had a foamy surprise when his streamliner's fire extinguisher system was set off by heavy deceleration forces
After completing a 390mph test run in his 4000bhp, twin V8-powered ‘Challenger II’ streamliner at the Bonneville Salt Flats, Danny Thompson released the machine’s parachutes to slow down. However, the huge deceleration forces ended up triggering the car’s on-board fire extinguisher. Danny’s crew has since adjusted the system, so this rather sticky incident is unlikely to occur again.
