Leaked Pics Show That The 2014 911 Targa Is A Lazy 80s Throwback
What's thought to be patent images of the upcoming 991 Porsche 911 Targa have been leaked. Numerous spy shots of the car have been doing the rounds for a while, but this almost confirms that the new Targa will be adopting a retro look.
The stainless steel-clad B-pillar and rollover hoop hark back to the pre-1990 '911 classic' Targa. In fact, it almost looks like the designers have chopped out the B-pillar unit from the older car and dumped it on a 991 convertible.
More recent 911 Targas have featured a modern, folding glass roof, but by the looks of it the 2014 model will have a removable fabric unit.
Upon its launch, the Targa will be available with either a 3.4-litre or 3.6-litre flat-six, with 345bhp and 395bhp respectively.
We can't decide if this look works, or if the marriage between modern and retro just looks plain weird. What do you think?
