LED Headlights For '330bhp' Toyota Supra Revealed
As the debut of the all-new Toyota Supra draws nearer, the test mules that are out in the wild are shedding their disguises and giving us a better idea of how the car will look. The latest development? That concerns headlights, as a prototype has been spotted wearing production clusters for the first time.
As we can see from some detailed snaps over at SupraMkV.com, they look to be snazzy LED units, and echo the design of the FT-1 concept’s front headlights (below).
However, that’s not the only interesting nugget of news found over on the MkV Supra portal - thanks to a leaked BMW model codes document, we now know how powerful it’ll be. Both the new BMW Z4 (code G29) and the new Supra (code J29) are listed on the document, with the Supra getting two choices of engine: ‘30i’ and ‘40i’. In BMW engine speak, that’s a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four, and a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six. The current iterations of each produce 248bhp and 330bhp respectively.
So, if the engines are no more powerful than the current versions, that means the most powerful Supra will ‘only’ make 330bhp. In these power obsessed times that may not seem like much, but we reckon it might be just about on the money.
What’s perhaps more interesting is there’s no mention of the rumoured all-wheel drive hybrid model, although - assuming the document is legitimate - one could come along later in the Supra’s life.
The other intriguing takeaway is that while the information seems to confirm that the Supra will indeed only be available as an automatic, the BMW - weirdly - gets a manual option.
Time will tell if all this is correct, but for now, we want to know: do you think 330bhp is enough for the new Supra?

Just a few more months…..
The MKIV Supra was more of a GT car then a SPORTS car. It was designed to handle high speeds over long distances, the idiots comparing it to other 90’s - 00’s sports car around tracks/corners need to seriously just shut up.
From what I can tell with this new supra, its going to be a proper SPORTS car and not a GT car like the MKIV, everything indicates this, smaller (assuming lighter in weight), less power compared to other cars out there etc etc.
I’m a bit disappointing that the power is still ‘low’ for todays market BUT if its not overly priced and has modification options it’ll do well.
Lets not forget the RZ supra in the 90’s would sell for $40k+..it was expensive.
This is refreshing because it means more people will be able to afford one
330hp is perfectly fine for the stock car, remember that the 2jz has it’s legendary status from it’s notorious reliability that makes it really tuner friendly…past 335i are also really good for tuning so engine wise everything is good…let’s hope there are some crazy guys swapping the gearboxes
Considering the Lexus RC weighs around as much as a GTR already, unless this is lighter than the RC/GTR, these power outputs are going to be quite disappointing.
