The Legendary V12-Powered Top Secret Toyota Supra Is Being Auctioned
It’s a fair assumption that there are more modified Mk4 Supras out there than surviving stock examples. With that in mind, it takes something quite special to stand out from the herd, which is what this ‘Top Secret’ Mk4 does for two reasons: what’s been done to it, and its reputation.
Firstly, let’s deal with the “what’s been done to it” angle. Under the bonnet, you’ll find the 5.0-litre ‘1GZ-FE’ engine from the Toyota Century. Yep, Japan’s sole production V12. There’s not much of the original engine left though, and with some serious added boost via a pair of HKS GT 2835 turbochargers, it makes well over 1000bhp.
Now we’ll deal with the ‘reputation’ bit. Kazuhiko ‘Smokey’ Nagata - the founder of Top Secret, who very much lives up to his nickname - brought the car to the UK in 1999, where he thought he’d see how fast he could get it. At 4am. On the A1M motorway.
The aim was 200mph, and thanks to wet conditions Smokey fell short, but only just - he still managed 197mph. Shortly after he was pulled over by the police, who understandably took a dim view of the early-morning high-speed run. Nagata was arrested and swiftly deported.
So it’s a seriously fast, highly unique car with one hell of a back-story. And if you’ve the cash, you could own it: it’s up for auction in Japan next month. It looks a little different than it did during the infamous A1M run thanks to the fitting of Top Secret’s ‘Super G Force’ high speed lift-killing bodykit, which it used to great effect in 2008 on the Nardo Ring when it clocked 222.6mph. Just in case the car didn’t already have the history box well and truly ticked.
We’re intrigued to see what it’ll go for…

This sums up my life.
I actually saw an article on this three days ago.
https://youtu.be/aznbdr3zQp4 320 km/h on public highway. Just skip to 5:30 if you want to see it.
Lol, why did he get arested for going less than 200kmph over the limit? That’s dumb, here in Poland you get the same 500 pln (about 125 u.s. dollar) ticket no matter if you were going 40 or 300 over the speed limit :D you have to watch out for speeding in the cieties as going 50 over the speed limit in the city will loose you the license…
Speed record in normal traffic on the city parimiter of my city outer ring in normao traffic was set by the guy in race - modified audi rs5 ( he was going about 320-330 km/h in a 100km/h zone) sadly there are those average speed cameras there so running at 160-170 km/h there isn’t gonna happen anymore. I rekember those speed runs with my dad in his 2000 renauot megane 1.4 8v woth all of those beastly 75hp (it was capable of 165-170 km/h.
The “Policeman” with his London accent sounds like he will “find a different way he could pay for the ticket”
NEED!
“Arrested and swiftly deported”?? So, he didn’t even get a jail sentence. Just a quick trip back to Japan?
