The Lexus IS-F Is Dead And Probably Won't Be Replaced
IS-F production is stopping worldwide, and a replacement looks unlikely for the time being
Fast, exciting Lexi have always been in rather short supply, but they’re set to get even scarcer, as the Lexus IS-F, an intriguing BMW M3 alternative, is no more. The car has already been absent from UK showrooms since 2012, but Autovisie has confirmed long-standing rumours by reporting that the IS-F has now been discontinued worldwide, with just 11,000 units sold since the car’s arrival in 2007.
With those sales figures, it seems unlikely that Lexus will create a direct replacement using the current generation ‘XE30’ IS, especially when the car already has a successor in the form of the RC-F coupe. That car uses an updated version of the 5.0-litre V8 found in the old super saloon.
