Marussia's Late Attempt To Return To Formula 1 In Abu Dhabi Has Failed

The Marussia F1 Team unfortunately failed in a late attempt to return to Formula 1 at this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Banbury-based outfit entered administration last month and recently announced that it had ceased trading, making 200 staff redundant.

In Brazil it emerged that efforts were being made for the team to compete in the Abu Dhabi season finale, in order to still be included in the constructors’ championship and secure the financial boost for ninth in the standings.

Ferrari engine personnel in Marussia shirts were spotted in the Yas Marina Circuit paddock, with team members and equipment being on standby to be transported to Abu Dhabi for the race. Unfortunately the late talks fell through.

Marussia’s failure to re-join the grid means 10 teams will compete in this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Caterham also entered administration last month but a crowdfunding project enabled the team to return, with the driver line-up of Kamui Kobayashi and Will Stevens.

Yesterday a new update on Jules Bianchi’s condition was released. His family stated that he has now been transferred to a hospital in France, has been brought out of an artificial coma and is breathing unaided, but remains in a critical condition.
