Maserati GranTurismo Receives A Facelift So Subtle You’d Hardly Notice

The Maserati GranTurismo has been with us for a while now - it’s hard to believe that it first hit the roads almost a decade ago. Now, finally, Maserati has given it an update, starting with the 2018 model year.

Struggling to spot the changes? So were we at first, but if you look very closely you can see the new restyled front end. The nose from the grille backward is more aggressive looking and is now flanked by larger air intakes – this helps reduce the drag coefficient to just 0.32Cd. Maserati has also been busy around the back by fitting a redesigned bumper and new exhaust pipes. Although weirdly, Maserati no images of the rear are available.

The entry-level GranTurismo spec is no longer available so Sport and MC Stradale flavours are the only options. Thankfully the 4.7-litre V8 motor remains the same, which is fine by us. This Ferrari-built unit is good for 453bhp and 383lb ft of torque in Sport trim, propelling the comfortable four-seater to 62mph from a standstill in 4.8 seconds.

On the inside Maserati engineers have been digging through the FCA parts bin and fitted the latest ‘In-Connect’ infotainment setup with a 8.4-inch capacitive touchscreen. Buyers can also choose from a new and vast array of interior leather options to suit almost any taste.

So, a subtle but effective facelift to keep the GranTurismo achingly pretty and current-ish. No word on the UK release date or price yet but expect it to be similar to the current car, starting at around £90,000 upwards.

Well it’s still a really pretty car, even by today’s standard. This gets even better when it’s one of the last NA V8 out there still on the market

Facelift it into this and I’m pretty sure no one will ever ask for another facelift again (facelift the engine too. 🤓)
