Maserati Wants A Slice Of The 911 Pie With Its Alfieri Sports Car
If there was a prize for the prettiest car to be revealed at this year's Geneva motor show, this Maserati Alfieri concept would surely win it. Created to celebrate the Italian marque's centenary, a production version of this 2+2 coupe could be with us within two years.
The concept uses a shortened Granturismo MC Stradale chassis with a 460bhp, 383lb/ft 4.7-litre V8. It'll nicely fill the void left by the old Gran Sport, which was replaced by the considerably more expensive and less sporty Granturismo.
An expected £60,000 price tag and the promise of a sportier car than the wafty Granturismo (which will remain on sale when this car arrives) can only mean one thing: Maserati is after a slice of the Porsche 911 pie.
Only time will tell if the eventual production version can go toe-to-toe with its intended Germanic rival, but for now we're happy just to ogle at this gorgeous concept.
