McLaren Says Adios To Perez After A Seriously 'Meh' Season

Sergio Perez will leave McLaren at the end of the year after just one season with the team.

The Mexican driver has endured a difficult debut season for the Woking-based team, arriving just in time for their worst season since 1980. After weeks of speculation, Perez announced the news in a statement on Twitter.

"I would like to wish the team the very best in the future. I will always be a fan of McLaren. In the meanwhile I will be looking at my future to ensure my position in the best possible package to fight for wins. Thanks to McLaren and all of its partners for this season, you can rest assured that I will never give up."

McLaren confirmed that rookie Kevin Magnussen will replace him for the 2014 season. The Danish driver recently won the Formula Renault 3.5 championship and is the son of former F1 driver Jan Magnussen, who also made his debut for McLaren.
