The Mercedes-AMG GT R Isn't Quite As Expensive As You Might Expect
Like the look of the angry new Mercedes-AMG GT R? Now we know exactly how much it’ll set you back.
Stuttgart today revealed that its 577bhp monster will set you back £143,245, which - considering the changes it’s undergone - doesn’t actually sound like a bad deal.
For about £33k more than the GT S, you’re getting a radically different body littered with active and passive carbonfibre aero pieces, rear axle steering, heavily revised suspension with new dampers and a wider rear track, new turbochargers nestling within the 4.0-litre V8’s cylinder banks, and much more besides.
Should you want to make your GT R even more serious, there’s also the AMG Track package for £1685, which provides four-point harnesses, a fire extinguisher and a roll cage. Oh, and carbon ceramic stoppers are £5995 if you want to banish fade from your track day bro excursions.
The GT C - which receives a load of the GT R’s fancy new parts - is priced just below at £139,445, while its GT Roadster brother kicks off at £110,145.
Growing up on a diet of World Rally Championship highlights and lengthy Gran Turismo 2 sessions, a life in cars was as good as inevitable for Matt.

This might already be a Half-Black-Series already…Though I can just imagine it: Huge power, aggressive bodywork, and a exhaust note so loud, so brutish that it’ll make even the Devil quiver in fear….

If with “not quite as expensive” you mean 3 times more than what I need to get a nice hourse here, sure.
I like it, but even at that price I’d rather wait for the new 911 GT3 :)

But… for that I can almost get a used MP4-12C. And I can get a Diablo for that much.
For the cost of a Focus RS you get a heap of spoilers. Thats good value.
