Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series Says “Go Big Or Go Home!”

We like Mercedes Black Series models. We like them so much, in fact, that when we drove the C63 AMG Black Series, we included some naughty words to tell you just how f**king brilliant it is.

Inspired by our enthusiasm, Mercedes has given its SLS super car a decent sprinkling of Black magic including upping the 6.2-litre V8’s power by 59bhp to a mega 622 angry horses and widening the model’s footprint for better stability.

To go with the BS’s tuned heart, Mercedes has caked the scorching SLS’s exterior with bucket loads of carbonfibre to the spoilers, diffusers and numerous aero winglets.

Mercedes has also given the SLS Black Series some serious liposuction, stripping 70kg off the standard model's kerbweight. For that reason, those magical Top Trumps numbers have also improved; the crack to 62mph takes just 3.6sec and flat out, you’ll see 196mph.

While we’ll have to wait for Mercedes to think up a price for its monster, what we do know is that it’ll be bloody expense (around £200k sounds about right) and that it hits showrooms in June 2013. Best get saving, boys and girls.
