After hearing about the potential TT saloon, we had a look for examples of our favourite hot TT in the classifieds, and were surprised by the prices

The news about a saloon version of the Audi TT possibly joining the range had us intrigued. Our favourite TT, the warbly five-pot RS, would make a damn good super saloon, after all. For now though, it's only available as a coupe, but a quick browse of the classifieds showed us that they're getting pretty affordable.

In fact, with prices starting at £25k, a used version can be bagged for the same price as the new baby fast Audi: the S1. For the cash, you get a 2.5-litre five-pot under the bonnet that kicks out a glorious exhaust note.

With 340bhp sent to all four wheels, it can dispatch the 0-62mph sprint in just 4.6 seconds, exactly the same figure as the R8 supercar. Sure, it won't quite have the poise of a mid-engined Porsche Cayman in the corners, but the poke more than makes up for it - particularly as the four-wheel drive system will let you enjoy it whatever the weather.

This 2010 example has 42,000 miles on the clock, and has a full Audi service history. Still not convinced? Have a watch (and listen) to the TT RS/TT S sound comparison video below.
