MotoGP Rider Luis Salom Killed In Tragic Barcelona Crash
Moto2 rider Luis Salom has passed away after crashing heavily in a Free Practice session at Circuit de Catalunya today
After crashing heavily at turn 12 during MotoGP Free Practice at the Circuit de Catalunya, Moto2 rider Luis Salom has sadly passed away. Medical cars and a helicopter were dispatched to the scene immediately and Salom was taken to a nearby hospital and operated on, before succumbing to his injuries at 1655pm local time.

The Spanish rider scored nine wins in the Moto3 series before graduating to Moto2 in 2014. At the time of his death, he was racing for the SAG Team.

Sad day here in Spain, Sad day for the world, we lost another great biker, we won’t forget him, Dajiro Kato, Marco Simoncelli, Shoya Tomizawa, among others. The track changed its path and now it doesn’t include the turn 12, it goes through the F1 Track chicane. Sad day for Mallorca, where he spent his childhood, where he grew up with his family there, his grandfather owns a bike shop in Mallorca called ‘’Motos Salom’’ some people wanted to say his last goodbye with flowers and clandes at the entrance of the shop. Rest in peace, Luis, race in paradise with Simoncelli, Tomizawa… you’ll never be forgotten.

That is way too early to die.. but at least he died doing what he loves. Rest in peace.
