Mr Regular AMA: 20 Of The Best Questions And Answers
Avid followers of Regular Car Reviews last night took the opportunity to ask the least equanimous man in the car reviews business any question they wanted, when the man himself did his very own AMA on Discuss. Just in case you missed any of the action, here are 25 of the best questions, be they for their randomness, fun-factor or general Mr Regularness.
The questions themselves are paraphrased, but the answers are in full…
1. What was the favourite car you’ve reviewed on RCR and why? Gabz
AW11 because I like the feeling of being pushed by the small of my back in the same way I like the felling of a female MMA fighter, ratchet-strapping on a magnesium dildo and giving me the ol’ Bore N’ Stroke.
2. How did you learn to write so well and how do you know so much about cars? Chi-Wai Kou
Thanks for your kind words. I don’t think I am as smart as you hope I am. The roman and I come from journalistic backgrounds. I worked as a stringer reporter for a small time. We’ve been writing for long enough before I created RCR, that it was a muscle already trained.
See, I don’t know how to respond to such a flattring question because, from my perspective we are NOT writing well. I look at the /Drive team and UK Top Gear as what is proper automotive journalism
Clarkson, Farah, Spinelli and J.F. are the real pros. We’re the kids in the corner of the playground…playing grab-ass.
3. My girlfriend and I love your videos. How do you come up with the intro music? Tanner Wilson
You have a patient Girlfriend. You’ve learned a lot of about Dildos? Roman pics the songs. Sometimes I pick a song if it is something that I feel works, or something from the same year as the car.
4. Why do you want to be anonymous? David Bellerive
I am an introvert in real life so hanging out with me isn’t that much fun. I rather listen to other people’s conversations than lead the group. That is one reason why I don’t want my face in the video. Another reason is, I am not all that good looking.
It has some Chaucerian multi level authorship that allows us to distance ourselves from the content. I can say “No, I didn’t say that Corvettes are bad, that was Mr. Regular.”
Cheeky Smile
5. Hi Mr. Regular, what made you start RCR? Ethnan Kerton
I stared watching other people make car reviews and they did them like this. They would hold the camera real close to their mouth and breathe heavily into the on board microphone and you could hear the the cheesecakes they had for breakfast and the weeping tears and youth services dragged their kid way for meth experimentation. And they would say “hhhhhggggh…so this is my 1969 Camaro… It’s a work in progress but it is the love of my life. I have MSD ignition…I still have to put it in…huuugh…so I guess we’ll have a look at it….CHRISTY SHUT UP!!! I swear to GOD if you let the cat in the house again!!!!….Sorry about that…so i have a new choke cable…you can’t really see it…”
I was tired of that.
6. What do you think of the ‘Car Throttle experience’? Gabz
It’s good. Could use a beer tap.
7. Boxers or briefs? Personally I think you’re a boxer man but that is only an assumption. Paul Brosnan
Right now. I am wearing under armor casual pants in the Commando style. Otherwise, it’s briefs.
8. Favorite Car? Taeyoung Lee
1989 Toyota MR2 AW11 SC (Supercharged). I don’t own one. But that is my dream car. It’s hard to find AW11’s that are still stock. They suffer from the same wrathful hand of guy-dude-bros as RX-7’s and S13’s.
9. Will you do a review on the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII or IX? JDM_Doge
There was this one time where this guy who owns an evo shop in philly sent me a message on Reddit. He said I would come to his show and film some of the cars there. I was all about doing that. Then, he asked if he could watch the reviews before I posted. he wanted to make editorial changes before they went up. I told him that RCR is a parody review show and says outrageous things. He asked if we could be funny but only say nice things.
I told him that that’s not really what our fans want and nothing more was said.
10. Z4 or S2000? Tibi Atya
S2000. Holds it’s value better and there’s a bit of myth surrounding that will make it easy to sell.
11. Where do babies come from? Matthew Pearce
There was this one time where I was at Ocean City, New Jersey. I think I was…13. There was a girl who was out in the surf and the waves were doing a number on her top. See, I thought that the waves would just make one of the straps come off and I could see boobies. Or, maybe just a boob. So I was there just floating…and LOOKING at her, expecting the wave to reveal all of my salty desires. Did I really think that the girl would let the wave take her top off? What was I thinking? Would she just go without a bathing suit after that?
See, that’s what life was like in 1994. No internet.
12. What do you want to review most and what do the fans want most? Andrew Zhang
I want a Dodge Omni.
The fans want a trailer full of BMW E36s.
13. Is there a Mrs. Regular? Or maybe a Mr. Regular? TimberWolf
Can’t there be both?
14. Could you imagine doing a RCR world tour? Christoph Horvath
I’d love to do a world tour. I mean that would cost more moeny the Roman and I can pool. RCR was recued once by the internet and it would be bad form to do another crowd funding campaign to travel.
A world tour is a long way away.
15. What the hell inspired the voices? James Gallacher
I don’t like my own voice. I rather have a different one. So I do different voices so I can sound like a different person (a better person).
16. Which cars of the ones you reviewed would you most want to own yourself? Julio Lasagne
Ok, so that is interesting because My favorite is the AW11 but that would be a hard daily because there is only two seats and would require tons of sacrifice.
Ford Focus ST, because it can do everything.
17. Where do you see the channel in 3 years? Tibi Atya
It’s funny you say 3 years. I agreed to work at my current job for three years. It’s funny, most jobs don’t include a timetable contract but mine did. They needed someone who would “stick around” for 3 years. And I agreed to do that.
The job isn’t in my field but it pays ok. Anyway. I want to be able to live off of RCR within three years. That’s going to be a challange because Roman and I split the Youtube money 50/50. I think I will need 400,000 youtube subscribers to completely live off of youtube money.
Youtube money is small change. We need real writing jobs because that is where our strength and education lay. We are not very good video editors, or cameramen…or sound guys. BUT our skill with a spiritual bound notebook is good.
18. At what age did you start getting interested in cars? Motor458
I’ll never forget it.
I got into cars in 1987 (I was 6) when my mom came home with a Chrysler Conquest (Mitsubishi Starion). Up until that point, cars were moaning boxes that took you to Sunday School and endless boring dinners with grave-circling relatives.
But then…here is a sliver shining TRANSFORMER! It looks just like my Hot Wheels! and…and…the headlights go UP AND DOWN!
19. How do you like your cars: stock, stanced, show, tuned, fun and functional? Chris Kollath
My favorite style is “survivor class.”
20. Would you ever come over to the UK and review some cars? Crazy Northener
I learned to drive stick on a 1975 MGB. True story. My parents owned one when I was in high school. It went though 4 fuel pumps, and two break master cylinders. It would vaporlock like crazy and I miss it dearly.
UK: Someday.
Big thanks to Mr. Regular for taking the time to answer all of our questions! Stay tuned to his channel for more Regular Car Reviews.
