New '700bhp+' Mustang Shelby GT500 Is Ford's Most Powerful Road Car Ever
Ford is fed up of playing second fiddle to Dodge in the power stakes, so to take on the Challenger Hellcat it's brewing a special supercharged Mustang
Something big is coming from Ford. The company has confirmed a new Mustang Shelby GT500 for 2019, and it’s going to have at least 700bhp.
It’s going to have a supercharged V8, most likely derived from the current 5.0-litre unit, and it’s going to be Ford’s most powerful road-legal production car ever. As you’ve probably guessed, Ford has had enough of being outgunned by Dodge’s 707bhp Challenger SRT Hellcat.
It follows the Ford-sanctioned Roush supercharger conversion that acts as a stop-gap 700bhp solution. Bank on functional aerodynamics and ‘track technologies’ in a car derived from Ford’s relevant motorsport programmes. We can’t wait to see (and hear) it.

I’m starting to think they should call it the Super Snake, the GT500 name, I’m pretty sure it refers to horsepower

I’ve been waiting for Ford to make the Shelby GT500 able to make it around a corner again, and I wasn’t expecting that in a 700+hp car, but it looks like this might just be what I was looking for.
We are in a Golden Age of Automotive Goodness. A Renaissance for the Car Community. Let’s make sure it lasts for years on end. 😁
I saw a leaked document for technicians a while ago that showed what types of oil certain ford engines used and it had the gt500 labeled using the 5.2 voodoo but supercharged.
