The New Bentley Continental GT Configurator Is The Coolest Way To Waste Time
Being in the top one per cent has its perks. One of those perks is the capacity to have a luxury car built exactly the way you want it. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, the vast majority of mere mortals on this planet will likely never be able to afford their own custom-designed, hand-built Bentley. But that doesn’t stop us from dreaming. And, thanks to the Internet, we can now make our dreams a (virtual) reality.
Recently, Bentley launched the online configurator for its redesigned ‘entry-level’ model, the Continental GT. The base price is still closer to that of a house than a Honda, though. But In fairness, Bentley does give prospective customers a lot of choice when it comes to designing and optioning their new cars.
On the outside, you get to choose from at least 30 different colours of paint, along with eight different styles of wheels. I chose to paint my imaginary Bentley in Orange Flame, and fitted it with 22-inch “Mulliner Driving Specification” wheels finished in black with polished edges. I’ve also gone for the optional red-painted brake calipers and LED “welcome lamps.”
The interior design process is quite a bit more involved. To start, you get to pick up to two colours of leather from nine possible selections. You then get to choose from five different arrangements (called “colour splits”) of your chosen hide colours. You then get to choose from either a single-veneer or dual-veneer wood trim finish, along with various different options for the stitching. My Conti interior has a primary colour of Beluga Black over a secondary colour of Linen, arranged in colour split “E”. I’ve decided to keep the woodwork relatively simple with a single-veneer koa wood trim. I’ve also gone for the all-new “Rotating Display”; which allows the centre panel to revolve and display either straight wood veneer, a cluster of three gauges, or a 12.3-inch multimedia retina display.
The configurator doesn’t display the final price of my bespoke Bentley, but it’s safe to assume that I’d probably have to sell my soul to the Devil in order to finance it. My digital Continental GT, on the other hand, only cost me a couple hours of productivity. But it was totally worth it.
How would you configure your all-new Bentley Continental GT? Head over to the online configurator and have some fun designing your very own Conti. When you’re done, we’d like to see what you’ve built! Share the pictures of your online design to Car Throttle using the hashtag #ContiGTBuild! We’ll pick our favourite designs and share them in one post.

The back looks like someone designed it while on crack, pcp, and weed simultaneously.
It’s not that bad
I can’t be the only one who obsessed with configurators
Reason no.982 why I am obsessed with Porsches: they have the best configurator in the business
Yeaaaaaaa boooooiiiiiiiiii
Oh boy, you’ll love 3D Tuning.
Yet I can’t get a 2JZ option…
This is Bentley, not Rolls Royce
Brits seem to have a serious problem with colours: they keep mixing up orange and brown.
That interior, my gosh…
Inb4 yall lmao
Not sure why it posted this pic as it’s own comment. It was posted with a reply to someone but oh well.
