This New Corvette Stingray Shooting Brake Is Totally Badass

It's not just British car nuts who love a supercar shooting brake - niche US car makers like 'em too

Everyone loves a good shooting brake. There's something about the 2 door coupe style with an estate body that just seems to twang the car enthusiast's strings.

We like to think up our own in the wee small hours and have a tinker in Photoshop - with a cheeky SLS wagon or the all-things-to-all-men GT86 brake. Apparently Bertone like to do it too, beating us to the punch with their Rapide-based Jet 2+2 concept.

Now serial Corvette coachbuilders Callaway have got in on the act over in the USA. Previously notable for their 250mph Sledgehammer Corvette (and that was in 1988), they've unveiled their concept for a Corvette C7-based shooting brake.

Called the Callaway C21 AeroWagon, it fits a custom carbonfibre resin shell on top of the already pretty tasty 650hp Corvette C7 ZR1 - so it should be good for in excess of 200mph while having room for your utterly petrified luggage.

Callaway have left one trick up their sleeves though. They're actually going to build it, following significant consumer interest, to coincide with the Autumn release of the main C7 model range. And at just a $15,000 premium (a hair under ten grand in real money) over the Chevrolet, you can expect Ferrari FF beating performance and style at half the price.
