We’ve known for a while that the new Focus RS would pack the 2.3-litre Ecoboost engine seen in the new Mustang, with around about 330bhp. The big question mark, though, has been where that power would be sent. Would it be front-wheel drive like the last Focus RS, or will Ford go all-wheel drive? Turns out it’s the latter, according to reports which have been floating around the interweb this morning, along with these leaked images.

As you’d expect, 330bhp and four driven wheels means the RS will be stupidly quick: 0-60mph in under five seconds has been touted. The all-wheel drive system will also be a torque vectoring setup, capable of sending up to 70 per cent of power to the rear boots. Nice.

The exterior has been given a suitably butch makeover, with an angrier front bumper, multi-spoke alloy wheels, a rear boot spoiler and two meaty tailpipes integrated into a rear diffuser.

We’ll be at the car’s official reveal in Cologne, Germany today, and will be able to confirm these details and more when the RS has its formal introduction.
