This New Honda Could Finally Mean The Death Of The Prius
Honda is already leading the way in hydrogen-powered cars with its FCX Clarity, and now the company has improved the technology for this new concept. The wildly-futuristic FCEV, with its radical slippery shape, serves as a preview for the FCX's eventual replacement. And given that the FCX is a pretty boring thing to look at, we hope Honda takes a few styling cues from the concept for the eventual production model.
The most important thing about this concept is the change to the hydrogen fuel cell. It's received a 60 per cent boost in power density, while the cell stack's size has been reduced by 33 per cent, which allows for more space inside. The range of the cell is now 300 miles - a 60-mile increase compared with the Clarity's - while the current car's five-minute refuelling time has been shaved down to three minutes.
