The latest Need For Speed instalment is bringing even more depth, detail and options to the customisation side of the franchise, while also giving players the chance to rebuild a car from the ground up.

A new trailer from publisher EA and developer Ghost Games has showcased the almost-overwhelming array of customisation options that gamers can try out when NFS Payback hits virtual and real-life shelves on the 10 November for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

New Need For Speed Payback Trailer Showcases Immense Customisation And Derelicts

Players will be able to put their own stamp on their cars, while also altering the performance like never before – with five car classes to delve into (race, drift, off-road, drag and runner). Of course, customisation has long been a part of NFS, but not in this kind of depth.

Derelicts are cars that you can find during the single player campaign. You don’t have to buy them, win them or anything like that. It’s a full-on hunt for these classic, abandoned machines, ready to be brought back to life. Winning, buying and finding car parts allows players to bring it back to stock condition.

Then, having done that, gamers will be able turn it into a bonkers super-build – a far cry from the battered, run-down car that was found in the open-world map. Five derelicts are in the game, associate art director Bryn Alban told us, and these include the 1965 Chevrolet Stepside Pickup and the 1963 VW Beetle.

EA also confirmed that those who pre-order the game will get the Platinum Car Pack, which gets them five uniquely-customised and tuned cars:

  • Nissan 350Z 2008
  • Chevrolet Camaro SS 1967
  • Dodge Charger R/T 1969
  • Ford F-150 Raptor 2016
  • Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport 2016
  • (Plus exclusive Platinum Blue Underglow & Tire Smoke Vanity Items)

Expect this to be all the customization that there will be in the game. Remember how everyone thought “Oh, this is only the trailer. They will add more stuff” on NFS 2015?

I saw the trailer earlier today. So I spent my last $80 dollars on the game and not saving it up, to buy my dream car… Yep..

How did they copy Forza may I ask? All game franchises take concepts from rival game franchises, that’s just how gaming works
The Crew took a lot of concepts from NFS and Forza. Were they unoriginal? No! That’s just how gaming works and it’s always going to be that way

Need For Speed series is dying slowly, more and more with every game they bring. I think this series needs to focus more on real life, like having meetings at day, or having polices chases at night. That would be more fun than this fast & furious copy. Just ideas i have :D

Like never before?!

Sorry CT, don’t get this “they paid us to create hype” kind of secret promo… What we se here is a ripoff of the Crew - NFS went and simplified the customization - instead of getting forged internals, you just go and buy “performance points”. How unique

Please, please, please make a video game and see how hard it is with pessimistic haters like you always roasting games and giving developers a hard time.
.
Also it’s more an improvement of the crew seen as the Crew had pretty bad graphics and handling.

Too bad it’s going to be an overpriced arcade game. Imagine this kind of customiation with a physics engine like the one used in assetto corsa and a simular pricetag. That would be neat. But hyping this? I dont think so.
