New Screenshots And Juicy Info Released On F1 2015 Game

It has been officially announced that the new F1 2015 game will be released on 12th June. It’s the first title from the franchise for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

We got our first look at the game last month, with confirmation of several new features, including a new broadcast presentation, game modes (like Pro Season), voice command and bonus 2014 content.

Codemasters has now revealed several new screenshots of F1 2015, as well as some more information. This year’s cars will be based on the ones raced at the season opener in Australia, meaning no Manor Marussia F1 - however, with lots of updates planned for the second half of the year, you will soon be able to compete as Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi.

A completely new game engine means F1 2015 has been built from the ground up. Codemasters hasn’t simply taken F1 2014 and made significant improvements. Pure racing is the main focus and “race like a champion” is its new slogan, while much was said recently at Bandai Namco’s Level Up preview event about the new handling system, visual improvements and AI upgrades.

The 2015 drivers have a CGI version of themselves in the game, which players will see in the driver selection menu and in the new broadcast presentation features, such as the grid and the podium; so instead of playing as themselves, they will play as this year’s grid.

It is certainly a shift in direction for Codemasters. We recently got the chance to try out an early demo version of the game, racing with 2014 cars around Singapore. The visuals are largely a good step forward, with the wet weather graphics being particularly impressive (although the replay shots still need some work).

The handling is very different, you can really feel the torque of the power units when exiting slow corners and some of the high-speed turns can be pretty tricky, but it is easier to correct the car and feel what is happening. It’s clear that Codemasters has tried to make the handling more of a simulation, and the early signs indicate that it is a decent improvement. The AI appears to be more aggressive and their pace on the opening lap is much quicker - something that was always frustrating in previous titles.

With such a limited demo, it was difficult to make too many first impressions, but we certainly believe the game will be a big step in the right direction for the franchise when it is launched this June. Are you excited? We certainly are!
