New Stingray Could Be The UK's Best-Value Sports Car
Chevrolet has revealed that the new Corvette Stingray will cost from £61,495 when it lands in the UK in autumn this year.
The UK-spec Stingray will feature the Z51 performance pack as standard, which includes an enhanced aero package, electronic limited-slip differential, a performance exhaust system and bigger wheels - 19 inches at the front, 20 inches at the back.
The Z51 pack also features magnetic ride control suspension, which Chevrolet says has been tuned to cope with Europe's crappy roads. Whether this gives it the pliant ride that B-road hoons require remains to be seen, though it should go some way to dispel the 'backwards technology' image American cars have over here.
The Chevy's trump card is that £61k gets you 460 horsepower from an all American 6.2-litre V8, which is a pretty good deal when compared to its rivals. The classier Jag XK will set you back about £64k, but only gets 380bhp from its 5-litre V8, while a similarly powerful 911 Carrera S will set you back a further £20k on top. We reckon the only way to match its value-for-money would be to opt for the brutal Nissan GTR. Bring it on!
